From November 12-13, 2024, a delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, People's Republic of China, visited Mae Fah Luang University (MFLU) in Chiang Rai to attend the 2nd Preparatory Meeting for the 4th Thai-Yunnan Education Cooperation Forum, which will be held at MFLU in 2025.

Assistant Professor Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University, along with the university’s executive team, warmly welcomed the delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, as well as representatives from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI).

        From November 12-13, 2024, a delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, People's Republic of China, visited Mae Fah Luang University (MFLU) in Chiang Rai to attend the 2nd Preparatory Meeting for the 4th Thai-Yunnan Education Cooperation Forum, which will be held at MFLU in 2025.

Assistant Professor Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University, along with the university’s executive team, warmly welcomed the delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, as well as representatives from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI).

The delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education was led by Mrs. WANG Jue from the Academic Degree Management and Graduate Education Division, accompanied by Mr. CAO Guangxu from the International Exchange & Cooperation Division, Mr. CHEN Shanjiang from the School of International Chinese Language Education at Yunnan University, Mr. ZHANG Bing from the Division of International Cooperation at Kunming University of Science and Technology, Mrs. YANG Jing from the Division of International Exchange & Cooperation at Kunming Medical University, and Mrs. QIN Yunfan from the Division of International Cooperation and Exchange at Southwest Forestry University.

        Additionally, a delegation from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) attended the meeting, led by Dr. Laksamon Samanasin, Director of the Bureau of International Affairs at MHESI. The discussion took place in the Doi Tung Meeting Room, Wanchai Sirichana Building at Mae Fah Luang University (MFLU). Representatives from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming, China, also participated in the meeting via an online platform.

        From Mae Fah Luang University, participants included Prof. Dr. Sujitra Wongkasemjit, Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee Wattanasiriwech, Vice President; Dr. Theeraphap Preediphot, Dean of the School of Sinology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhang Tao, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at MFLU; Lecturer Nanwang Yu from the School of Sinology; Dr. Nishant Singhaputtangkul, Lecturer from the School of Social Innovation and Acting Head of the Global MFU International Relations Division; as well as staff from Global MFU, the university’s international relations office.

Meeting Highlights

        The 2nd Preparatory Meeting for the 4th Thai-Yunnan Education Cooperation Forum took place on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. In addition to planning the logistics of the main forum, discussions covered key areas of cooperation, session formats, and strategies to facilitate various aspects of the event.

        On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the visiting delegation explored key facilities at Mae Fah Luang University, including the Comprehensive Herbal Innovation Center, the Cosmetic Prototype Factory, the University Hospital (Integrative Medicine), the Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center, and the Confucius Institute at MFLU. These visits aimed to support further preparations for the upcoming forum and ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
